Frequently Asked Questions
- Do you go rafting even if the weather predictions are poor?
- Yes, in Oregon the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change!" Some of the cloudy days of rafting offer more wildlife activity. It is easy to stay warm with a wind breaker type jacket and layers underneath. See our Gear List for suggested items to bring on the raft trips. We will discontinue a trip or cancel a trip in the rare instance of an electrical storm.
- What kind of people like to take rafting trips?
- The kinds of people interested in rafting vary to every corner of the world population. Young folks, older folks, kids, there is no end to the variety of people that absolutely enjoy the river and the gorgeous scenery. People who want to enjoy the outdoors without all the hassle of pre-planning, buying gear, making campsite reservations, and packing coolers call us. It is what we do and enjoy doing.
- What about camping?
- The Kids Camps are in improved campgrounds in the National Forest or at County Parks. There are toilet and shower facilities in the campgrounds. On our Specialty camping trips we may camp at the water's edge or if you prefer we may camp in an improved camp site at one of Josephine County's Parks. We recently took a couple on their first camping trip at the age of 60. They were so thrilled they will return for another river camp experience. We provide the tents and sleeping pads and we even set them up for you!
- What about bugs and mosquitoes?
- The Rogue River moves along quick enough (average 3 mph) that mosquitoes are not a problem on the raft trip, nor are other bugs. You may want to bring along repellant for the camp at night. We rarely see snakes and they avoid us too. If there is a particular bug that worries you, let us know and we will teach you how to stay away from them.
- Do you serve alcoholic drinks?
- No! We do not serve nor supply alcohol on our trips. No alcohol is allowed on the Kids Camp. If you are camping with us on our specialty trips, you may bring along beer or wine and we will happily keep it cool for you. We do not make alcoholic drinks available while rafting. It is best enjoyed at camp in the evenings.
- Can I bring a camera on the rafting trips?
- Yes bring along the camera and take as many pictures as you want. We'll even snap a few for you upon request. We offer dry boxes to store your cameras in during the rapids and water fights. However, we can not be responsible for damaged or lost equipment so bring your favorite camera gear along at your own risk.
